Minor Crash at the Ashcroft "Old timer" Drags

On Sunday afternoon, during a race between two different types of cars...one of the race-cars experienced a mechanical problem just after it launched from the starting line. The car pulled heavily to the right and ended up crossing the center-line of the track.

Luckily the cars were not equally matched and had a 2 second difference in green lights. The broken race car went right across the track and impacted fairly hard against the guard rail. The other race car driver saw all of this happen right in front of him.

The other racer  left the starting line slowly and pulled up beside the crashed car....he bailed out of his car and went to check on the condition of his competitor. Unfortunately, the Ashcroft Eagleplex track doesn't have a full tilt rescue team...so the other driver ended up being the first responder.
The driver of the crashed car was just a little shaken and exited the car under his own power.

The car had front end damage and some sort of mechanical issue that locked up the driveline, so that it couldn't be towed. After a very long wait....it was decided to pull the stricken car directly into a race car trailer ...using a winch. This took about the best part of an  hour..because of the lack of emergency resources.. With the Pro-Mod cars going over 200 mph in 6 seconds....the chance of a catastrophic crash is very real...hopefully someone ponies up for better safety gear at this very fun event and track.

The driver of the roadster going over to check on the driver of the car that smacked the guard rail , after crossing the center-line

The driver of the Chevy was a bit shaken after a mechanical issue caused him to hit the barrier

I'm thinking that the track, or event organizers might want to invest in some rescue gear and a tow truck

Inspecting the damage done from making contact with the barrier....score , concrete 1...car 0
